Ms. Denise Hargis (hargis@bio.unc.edu), the Student Services Assistant, can answer questions about course registration and schedules. In addition, she can assist you in finding various departmental and campus resources. In this office you will find applications for Biol. 395/396 Undergraduate Research and Biol. 691/692 Honors Thesis, drop/add forms and other departmental and campus forms. The Abbey Fellow in Biology is a faculty member who meets with majors by appointment to discuss various topics related to Biology as a course of study or a path to a professional career. Dr. Lillie Searles (lsearles@email.unc.edu) is serving in this role until the end of the 2007-2008 academic year. At that point, another Biology faculty member will be selected for this position. Biology Department Faculty Advisors are available during the pre-registration period for open-door advising in Coker Hall to discuss course selections within the departmental requirements. Peer Advising is provided by members of biological honor society Tri-Beta during open-door advising in Coker Hall as described above. While these students cannot provide official information regarding graduation requirements and major/minor requirements, they are able to give their personal perspective on courses, which is very useful to students. College of Arts and Sciences Resources College of Arts and Sciences Advisors on Team 70, temporarily
located in Phillips Hall, are available to verify overall
graduation requirements. These advisors provide the official

Consult “Degree Audit” to double check your academic progress. Caution: Do not rely on Degree Audit as your sole method of verifying your academic progress. A final analysis of your courses and how they meet the graduation requirements must be completed by a member of the Senior Advising Team prior to graduation. Petitions regarding dropping courses past the deadline, medical
leaves, and academic probation must be issued by a Dean in Academic
Advising or Full-time advisor. |
