Working Group on Evaluation of Plot Methods
Participants: Tom Wentworth, Peter White, Brooke Wheeler, Kristin Taverna, Dane Kuppinger, Lee Anne Jacobs, Jason Fridley, and Bob Peet.
Summary statement:
Tom Stohlgren joins the us in advocating examination of vegetation at multiple scales. However, he uses a different method for sampling across scales, which unlike the CVS protocol, does not use nested quadrats. In converstations and at meetings he asserts that his method is better than ours. He is also about to release a book that focuses on his methodology. Our group has set out to document the relative strengths and weakness of the Stohlgren method in comparison with the CVS method.
