Synopsis

Our research straddles the interface between functional biology and population biology. We combine laboratory, field and modeling approaches to study the physiological, biomechanical and developmental traits of organisms and their ecological and evolutionary consequences. A common theme in our researches is how organisms respond and adapt to changing and fluctuating environmental conditions. Much of our recent work has been with temperate insects and their interactions with plants, but together with recent graduate students and colleagues we have also studied bacteriophage, echinoderm larvae, and tropical butterflies.
